Gift Wrapping from Scraps

I have always been a fan of handmade. I do handmade. But I have always been worried about the resources you waste or the trees you kill with all the materials discarded after a handmade project.

So yep, I have become a hoarder. I believe that as long as that piece of paper is at least 3/4 inch wide, it can be reused. So I hoard papers up to the smallest cut you would normally throw away. And we have been recycling stuff from projects into new projects.

And one of the most common venues where we could use all these scraps is through gift-wrapping.

So when hubby got this gift we asked my mom to wrap of us, he was really surprised to see it so dainty. But I wasn’t. Coz I was expecting it to turn out nicely, not only because my mom is creative and meticulous on these things, but because I was sure she’d just get something out of my scraps. (Here she used pink papers from a child’s 3rd birthday guestbook to wrap the gifts, a beige board from a friend’s wedding invitation for the tag, and pink paper from my daughter’s bookmark project for that little butterfly.)

At least in a way, I do believe we help keep this world prettier and cleaner… by continuing to make pretty handmade things out of fewer mess. 😉

So how do you say goodbye to your own craft materials? Do you hoard stuff and recycle them too?

I hope you do 😉

To God be the glory! 🙂
