DIY Paper Rosette

I love paper rosettes! They’re quick and easy to make yet would make pretty awesome decors. So when a friend asked my help to prepare for a bridal shower, rushed, I thought of paper rosettes as my go-to decor right away.

And they did not disappoint! They turned out pretty well considering it only took us around 4 hours to make – my mom did the most part. She cut and folded the paper strips, roughly 3 hours, since I had a really busy work week, while I only used an hour of my Saturday to assemble them and add some accents.

Ta-dah!!!

I didn’t have a particular theme or motif in mind for this one. I just wanted to use the existing paper I already have. And I am really happy they turned out nice. And blended well with my artificial bouquet project too!

And the bride-to-be and her friends were happy with the outcome as well. 🙂

So if you want to try making your own paper rosettes, they’re pretty easy. You can watch my video tutorial here:

I also created the sash and the banner but I’m still thinking if I’d make another tutorial on them. 😛

For now, please let me know what you think of this tutorial. Do you think I should make more DIY videos? 🙂 I really want to give more time on improving my blog content and create more youtube videos but I need someone to take me in as an apprentice. Anyone? I promise I’ll be a good pupil. *Bats eyelashes* Hahaha.

Meanwhile, please don’t forget to subscribe and follow me here, and eclations on FB/Twitter/IG/YouTube! And of course, leave a comment!

Pretty Easy Bridal Bouquet

Artificial flowers do not have roots but they too are pretty. Some fake flowers in fact, look real. Artificial flower bouquets have also become a trend among modern brides though they are more fondly called as “handmade flowers” (as majority are hand-crafted) than artificial or fake.

I for one, have created several bouquets already, though so far I’ve only played around with felt cloth/fabric and paper. I’ve tried making fabric flowers before but I found that they are quite tedious to make since they are often too soft or the edges run amd burning edges is not really my thing. :p

But a friend came to me this morning, requesting help — they needed a bouquet by Friday. I am busy with work lately and I know I won’t have the time to make them by hand and I am really really really glad she agreed to using artificial flowers instead. I honestly have been wanting to try this out and I am sooo glad I finally had an opportunity!

This project took me only 20 minutes to make.

Materials:

– Assorted artificial flowers bought from the mall

– Floral Wire

– Scrap Felt Cloth

– 1-inch Ribbon

Steps:

1. Arange the pieces of flowers according to your taste or choice of design.

2. Tie or bundle the flowers using a floral wire to ensure the pieces do not fall off.

3. Wrap the bundled stems of the bouquet with felt fabric.

4. Accentuate the handle with a ribbon.

Pretty easy right?

Good News: Sack Art

Some opportunities come only once in a lifetime. But sometimes, they can happen twice. And in such instances, you can only marvel at how truly wonderful God is. 🙂

So today, let me share with you another project I did for a local tv station. I did a DIY segment on Paperclips last November and I was so happy I got called in again last month for another shoot… This time, on sacks/burlap! And the segment aired last Monday, April 3, 2017.

You would think that since this is my second time, it’d be easier but it was not. You could even say I had a lot more boo-boos on this shoot. Nevertheless, it was a fun experience and the people were amazing to work with! I thank God that everything turned out well and I pray that the viewers and the staff of the network were pleased with the outcome.

I had a lot of lessons learned and I hope to work on them and improve next time.

I pray for a “next time”.

But as my friend reminded me tonight, seek first God’s Kingdom and all these will be added unto you… Good things happen according to God’s will and perfect timing in our lives. He knows the best plan and course of action for us! 😉

Irish Trolls Birthday

I don’t believe in luck. I believe in grace. God’s grace.

When bad things happen, it’s either a trial to make you stronger or a consequence of a mistake you made.

When good things happen, it’s God’s blessing and grace. And the good thing about grace, is that although we do not have control over it, or even deserve it, God gives it freely. So free and so abounding that it can overpower even the bad things and negatives. 😉

Nevertheless, we all know that the world, or the Irish, celebrates March 17 as St. Patrick’s Day. And you know what else is celebrated around this time of the year? My inaanak’s (god-child) birthday! 🙂

So last March 15, my god-daughter Irish Freyja celebrated her 5th birthday in school and I was blessed with the opportunity to sponsor part of her birthday, as my gift to her. 🙂

The theme was Trolls but since her name is Irish (taken after her father) and her birthday is around the Irish festival, Clovers had to be in the scene.

And so, here are the items her mom and I made:

1. Pop-up Invitation

We used scrapbook and glitter paper, and my Silhouette Cameo to cutout the grass and the clovers. We printed photos of Poppie and her mom cut them by hand (yeah, I haven’t fully learned how to do this print-then-cut thing in Cameo, sorry). Then we stuck them piece by piece on the pop-up resulting into these:

2. Irish Claddagh Awards

Irish wanted to give something special to her friends at school so her mother came up with the Claddagh Awards. They got unique descriptions of each classmate from Irish herself and her teacher and created paper medals for each.

Here we used dark green cardstock and gold glitter paper, Silhouette Cameo and punchers, and some gold ribbons.

3. Glow-stick Bracelets

Hug tiiiiime! You know how in the Trolls movie, they have bracelets that would glow from time to time so the trolls get to hug each other? Well, we couldn’t use glowing gems and flowers but we opted to use glow-sticks intead. And of course, still attach some flowers to them.

Don’t you just think they are pretty? I think so too! And it’s not because we made them. Ahihihi. 🙂

And I love the photos too!

#IWD Tokens

Today I delivered these flower topiaries to be given away to our empowering and inspiring women in Technology at work. I started making these Spiral Bouquets last year as token to our IWD speakers and I am glad my colleagues re-considered me for this year’s continuing IWD engagements!

I was really nervous about how these will turn out. As you can see, I deviated from my typical color combinations and pastels. But thank God everything turned out fine and cute just the same.

I’ll be working on 2 more but will rest for a bit. It’s 3 am by the time I finished these 4. Can you believe it? Well, as they say… Time flies when you’re having fun!

And now I am super duper ultra mega sleepy! But I am happy. 🙂

Weekend Flash

Tell me, where did the weekend go? Everything happened so fast, it’s still a blur to me. Just like that yellow and red superhero we all love, the weekend went by in a flash.

But it did happen. And we had fun.

So here’s our weekend with family and friends in a series of pictures.

1. Grands Day-out

Hubby went with my in-laws to visit our ninong Val yesterday. It was nice to really see him better now. Afterward, we met up with them for a stroll around Greenhills. 🙂

2. Maria Olivia’s Christening

Today we celebrated the Christening of Liv, the daughter of hubby’s best friend from college. It was a short but sweet reunion. Liv was so pretty and well-behaved. Even Dana loved her so much she wanted to take the baby home. Guess somebody wants to be an ate already. Ready na Daddy-mer?

3. A meeting with mommy Alen.

A quick meeting with one of my good friends from college, Alen. She’s actually one of my first friends in PLM. We were seatmates in some classes back then. And it’s nice to have remained friends with her until now. Though we seldom see each other in person, she’s always just a Viber away. She’s one of my go-to personsp on mommyhood and health and beauty topics… And now she’s a craftsy friend too! 😘

4. My Ex and Whys

And lastly, a movie date with the fambam!

Whew! What a hectic weekend that was. And now, I am sooo sleepy. But before I leave, here’s my mandatory selfie (you’re all used to by now), and an OOTD as an added bonus. Hahaha. Vanity at its highest level. Joke! Pagbigyan na, masaya lang talaga ako at nakapag-off shoulder ako ngayon! 😂

Giant Paper Flower Workshop

I am trembling with excitement! As with my past first workshops, I am venturing again on another first — my first Giant Paper Flower workshop! Yey!

FB_IMG_1486461816738.jpg

I really have mixed feelings about this – lots of joy, a bit of worry, plenty of hope and full of excitement!

And I do pray that there will be a good number of participants joining.  So if you are in the area and you are interested to join, contact Pinky!

That’s all for tonight. My eyes are already trembling with sleepyness haha.

Please like and share this post. And join our workshop too!

Workshop 2: Felt Flowers

It’s February tomorrow and you know what that means… The scent of chocolates and flowers is in the air.

It’s the love month as the world calls it.

And for me, I also believe that love is a wonderful, sacred feeling. God intended for us to love one another, the way He loves us. As 1 John 4:19 says, “We love because He first loved us.” So tonight I pray that… may we love each other wholly and purely in the love of Christ! May we get to share wonderful, joyful moments with our loved ones in the fashion that God wants us to, not only on the so-called hearts’ day, but tonight, tomorrow and every day that follows! 🙂

Do not wait for Feb 14 or an occasion to buy your wife or mother flowers, chocolates or anything she loves. Do not wait for another day to tell her you love her. Do it now. Do it tomorrow. Do it for every day that follows.

And the same goes for him as well. 😉

And while we have been talking about flowers, why not make something yourself. Flowers that will never wilt. Though it can get dirty, so a little dustin’ and washin’ from time will have to do. Haha.

Just like what my lovely lady friends made with me last November during our private felt flower workshop session:

received_10211175087312161

Each of us created our own version of flowers. Then we realized that somehow, all of these flowers would look good together. And so the photo op with the pretty, colorful bouquet begins…

received_10211175090272235

Then we capped the night with a very tasty dinner at Eduardo’s Peri-Peri! It was my first time trying out their chicken and it tasted really great!

That was one fun workshop and I’d love to do it again and again. And again.

So if ever you and your friends want to have your own felt flower workshop with me, feel free to message me at www.facebook.com/eclations or eclations@yahoo.com

I’ll be waiting! 😉

Paperclip Bookmarks

I have a confession to make. I am soooo lazy! Hahaha. I was so tempted not to post anything last night. After a hard day’s work, I just wanted to sleep. But it would have been so sad if my momentum stops just because of that. So here I am, the next day, on my way to work, and drafting this post. Can you believe I am actually ditching an hour of sleep for this?! Yeah. Neither can I. I usually sleep while in transit to work but today is not one of those days. Yeeeey!

Anyway, today I just want to share a supplementary project to my previous TV stunt (which you can read about here). I hoarded so much paperclips for thst project, I didn’t know what to do with them after. So I decided to walk the talk…

Ta-dah!!!

I made 60+ pieces of paper clip bookmarks and sponsored a local Calligraphy workshop by a dear craft mentor and friend of mine, Meeya of Papelito, a local brand specializing in notepads and other paper products. Checkout their fb page or instagram (@lettersofmeeya, @papelito2011) for more details on their exciting goodies and workshop.

Who knows, you might be one of attendees that get a giveaway from me! Ahihihi.

That’s it for today. Have a great day and a happy weekend ahead! Happy New Year!

Paperclip Art

Some opportunities only come once in a lifetime. If you fail to grab them, they may be gone forever. So when one of those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities came, I had to grab it. Despite short notice. Despite schedule conflicts. Despite the challenges and risks.

Seriously.

It all happened so fast. I almost did not make it. But I know, God worked things out in my favor. Ü

So last November 2016, I was blessed to participate and demonstrate paperclip projects for the DIY segment of the  local tv show Good News kasama si Vicky Morales. Ü

Ta-dah!

It was such a fun experience. At first I was ecstatic. I thought it would be easy. I have been making paperclip bookmarks for the longest time. But then I was asked to prepare 4-5 projects using paperclips. I scrambled for sources. I googled and googled but I realized there aren’t a lot of paperclip projects out there. I envisioned. I improvised. I felt proud. Then I felt so sad I actually cried. My PTO/leave for the shoot was not approved due to short notice. I thought it was all over. But then the production staff were kind enough to adjust their schedules for me. We shot the segment in the evening. I grew tired. Sleepy. But my heart was full.

Then the following Monday, it finally aired. I was ecstatic once again.

And thankful.

The Lord has been really great, gracious and kind to me.

My hubby, family and friends were very supportive too!

And GMA NewsTV has been very kind and accommodating.

I know things like this don’t happen often. It may not even happen again. So I really cherish it.

But you know what? It already did! (At least part of my video that is.) I just found out from a friend that the show replayed my ‘star paperclip bangles’ DIY last December.

Ayiii!!! I am so kilig! 😍

P.S. Special thanks and credits to GMA News tv youtube and fb page for the video and photos included on this post.
